This research center has a long-established history of helping parents learn behavioral techniques to deal with children who are aggressive, defiant, or who have conduct problems. The Albert Ellis Institute was established by Albert Ellis in 1959. Even after his death the institute will coordinates research and continuing education for mental health professionals and self-help workshops for the public. There is a link for featured pamphlets on Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy concepts that can be downloaded for free. The Institute is also a clearinghouse for information about clinical fellowships and internships and affiliated training centers. The Mental Research Institute (MRI):
The Mental Research Institute was founded in 1959 in Palo Alto, California by leaders in systemic studies such as Gregory Bateson, John Weakland, and Jay Haley. MRI continues to offer customized training in Brief and Strategic Therapy, including a residency program for individuals who want to travel to the Institute and observe master therapists, shadow trainers and supervisors, and participate in supervision.
