About the Author

Joshua C. Watson, PhD, LPC, NCC, ACS, is an associate professor of counselor education at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. He has more than 15 years of clinical experience working in a variety of community mental health and private practice settings. In addition to his teaching, Dr. Watson has authored over 60 publications and has presented at several state, national, and international professional counseling conferences. In recognition of his scholarship, Dr. Watson has received numerous awards, including the Ralph F. Berdie Memorial Research Award, the Herb Handley Memorial Research Award, the American College Counseling Association's Distinguished Research Award, and the Mississippi Counseling Association's Distinguished Research Award. A past president of the Association for Assessment in Research and Counseling (AARC), Dr. Watson also is an active member of the American Counseling Association (ACA), serving as an elected member of the Association's Governing Council and managing editor of the Journal of College Counseling.

Brandé Flamez, PhD, LPC, NCC, is a professor in the counselor education and supervision program at Walden University. She has given over 100 national and international presentations and has authored or coauthored several book chapters and referred articles. She is the author of the upcoming textbook Diagnosing and Treating Children and Adolescents: A Guide for Mental Health Professionals. She serves on the American Counseling Association (ACA) Governing Council and was recently elected to the ACA Finance Committee. Dr. Flamez is chair of the ACA Publications Committee and serves as the president for the Association for Humanistic Counselors (AHC). She is the recipient of numerous national awards, including the ACA Wrenn Award for a Humanitarian and Caring Person, the ACA Kitty Cole Human Rights Award, the International Association for Marriage and Family Counselors (IAMFC) Distinguished Mentor Award, and the AHC Humanistic Clinician Award.
