Introduction to the Web-Based Study Site for Action Research: Teachers as Researchers in the Classroom, Second Edition.

Web-Based Study Site

This Web-based study site is intended to enhance students' understanding of Action Research: Teachers as Researchers in the Classroom, Second Edition by Craig A. Mertler. Please note that all the materials on this site are especially geared toward maximizing the potential for students to learn and enhance class discussion.

The Web-Based Study Site contains E-flashcards, practice quizzes for students, recommended Web sites, journal articles related to action research, chapter summaries, and PowerPoint presentations.

Chapter Specific Resources

PowerPoint Presentations

Designed for students and instructors, these PowerPoint presentations serve to outline important chapter concepts. They can be used as the foundation for instructors' lectures or students' study outlines.

Chapter Summary

Chapter summaries created by the author are provided for students to reference as they study the materials in the textbook.

Flashcards

The E-Flashcards are a tool for students to enhance their understanding of key terms outlined in the chapters. E-Flashcards may also be used as a study tool for exams and quizzes.

Quizzes

The web quiz for students provides multiple choice and true/false questions to enhance students' understanding of the material. Answers are provided for each question.

Web Resources

The Internet is a powerful learning tool and can be used as a supplement to course material. Web resources have been provided for each chapter, along with additional keywords that can facilitate further Internet studies.

General Resources

Learning from SAGE Journal Articles

Full text research articles are presented by chapter so students can identify the key topics covered. Moreover, the articles are accompanied by questions to help students evaluate each piece, as well as links to the journals in which the articles were originally published.

Sample Action Research Reports

Previously included as Appendix A and B in the first edition of the text, these samples are designed to help students as they compose their own action research reports.

How to Read a Research Article

For students who are new to reading research articles, we have provided a guide on how to read research articles, written by the author of the text.

Annotated Research Report

This report has been taken from the second edition of this text and annotated by the author, so students can better understand the important parts of an action research report.

Additional Activity

The author has created an annotated research report; now it's time for students to create one too, using Appendix B in the second edition. This can be used as a class assignment, or for students to practice their knowledge of report writing.
