Chapter 13: Relating Through Informative and Persuasive Speeches: Internet Activities
  1. Informative and Persuasive Messages: YouTube offers one of the most democratic and eclectic mixes of messages designed to inform and influence others. From middle school science projects to fully-produced multimedia productions, the YouTube viewer is a potential audience to thousands of messages. Go online and choose a video that is of interest to you. Determine if it is informative or persuasive in purpose. Try to discern questions of fact, conjecture, policy or value. Identify ethos, pathos, or logos. What assumptions can you make about how the creator of the message perceived his or her audience? What do the postings below the clip tell you about how well the creator designed her or his message?
